We live in the present, worrying about an uncertain future, and sometimes falling into depression. Yet the past is absolutely certain, and we can never escape its shackles.
Ancestors remain in our bloodlines, endlessly binding us to ethnicity and cultural tradition, dominating our unconscious. The ceremonies of praise, rites, and ancestral rites dedicated to ancestors — the unconscious rulers bearing the name of ancestry — sometimes reinforce systems under the guise of Confucian culture, and sometimes become mirrors that project our vain desires.
The Ancestral Exorcism Public Service provides music that shatters these mirrors and forcibly dismantles these systems. Through this service — which the state and society cannot provide — audiences either heal memories of suffering bound to ancestors and roots, or participate in a ritual that exorcises the very concept of ancestry itself.
